Course Work
39 hours of our 54-hour curriculum is devoted to study in the classroom. Our coursework provides our students with the tools to become proficient in genetics education while obtaining patient-centered counseling skills.
Fieldwork
Our fieldwork curriculum empowers students to apply core principles from the classroom to patient care in the clinic. Students have the opportunity for national or international placements during the summer and a combination of regional and virtual placements during their senior year.
Thesis Research
Our students are provided the opportunity to conduct original research in genetic counseling. Master of Science Thesis Research strives to improve practice, integrate new technologies in patient care and appreciate the psychosocial impact of genetics within our patients’ lives.
Community Engagement
In addition to learning in the classroom and clinic, our students have the opportunity to participate in service learning activities designed to offer real life exposure to individuals and family touched by genetics.
