Driver Training

USC Parking and Transportation Services offers driver training required by the State of South Carolina. These training programs apply to all  USC employees and students who will operate a state vehicle.

Driver Improvement Program (DIP)

The Driver Improvement Program is required for all USC drivers of state owned vehicles.

Drivers are required to complete an eight hour Defensive Driving Course (DDC-8) and a four hour Refresher Course (DDC-4) every third year therafter.  Completion of the DDC-8 will entitle a certificate holder to receive up to four points credit on their driving record.

15 Passenger Van Training - required for any USC drivers who will operate a 15-passenger van

Due to increased safety risks, additional behind the wheel training is required to operate a 15 passenger van.  In addition to the completion of this training, all 15-passenger van drivers must be 21 years of age or older.
