Application Process
The Summer Seniors application will be available on this website in mid-March. The deadline to apply is May 1.
All rising seniors from South Carolina are eligible to apply. During the review process, priority will be given to students who meet one of the following criteria:
- Resident of one of the following South Carolina counties:
Abbeville, Allendale, Bamberg, Barnwell, Cherokee, Chester, Chesterfield, Clarendon, Colleton, Darlington, Dillon, Fairfield, Greenwood, Horry, Jasper, Laurens, Lee, Marion, Marlboro, McCormick, Orangeburg, Sumter, Union or Williamsburg.
- Eligible for free or reduced-price lunch at school
Complete and submit a NACAC fee waiver, College Board fee waiver or a letter from your high school guidance counselor.
- First-generation student
USC defines a first-generation student as any individual whose parents and/or guardian did not complete a bachelor's degree.
Applicants are required to answer three essay prompts and submit a copy of their unofficial high school transcript. Contact your high school counselor for assistance. When completing the essays, we encourage students to tell us more about themselves and their experiences.
Notification Timeline
Students will be notified of their Summer Seniors decision by mid-May. Those selected to attend will receive details on how to register for one of our scheduled sessions.
If you have any questions, email admaccess@sc.edu. We're excited to read your applications!
My favorite thing about the University of South Carolina is that everyone feels like family, and that started with my very first visit at Summer Seniors. It was a great way to learn more about the university, especially since we were staying on campus.
