Stacy Winchester joined University Libraries in 2014 and serves as the Research Data Librarian at the University of South Carolina. She holds a BS in Biological Sciences from Clemson University, a Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) from the University of South Carolina, and a Graduate Academic Certificate (GAC) in Digital Curation and Data Management from the University of North Texas. In her role at USC, she promotes open science practices and helps researchers in all disciplines create data management plans, locate appropriate public access data repositories for finished, static datasets, and helps faculty and student researchers find open datasets or, in some instances, purchase data for research or teaching. Stacy runs the Skills, Habits, and Research Program for Graduate Students (SHARPGrads), a research skills workshop series for graduate students at USC. She also manages the Libraries’ Research Data Analysis and Statistics Support Service, which provides free, one-on-one help to students, faculty, and staff working with research data.

Stacy is the campus contact for several open science and research data management platforms.

  • DMPTool for Data Management Plans that meet specific funder requirements
  • Open Science Framework (OSF) for data sharing and research collaboration
  • ICPSR, the Inter-university Consortium of Political and Social Research
