Mission
The mission of the Security and Emergency Management Team is to foster a secure and healthy environment—both in daily campus life and during special events—enabling every member of our community to thrive. We also dedicate ourselves in providing an environment where every staff member, student, and faculty member is supported in their journey toward academic excellence.
The Security and Emergency Management Team defines the following campus requirements for all students, faculty, and staff:
- Vehicle Registration: All vehicles must display an official parking decal, which is also obtained at the Security Office. Standard decals must be permanently affixed to the lower left-hand side of the rear windshield.
- Parking Regulations: You are required to park only in designated areas corresponding to your permit (Student, Faculty/Staff, or Preferred).
- Preferred Parking: Students may upgrade to Preferred Parking ("A" Sticker) for $20 at the Business Office.
- Identification: Every member of the university community must possess a Carolina Card while on campus. These are issued at the Campus Security Office.
- Support: For non-emergency assistance or general inquiries, contact the office at 803-313-7084.
The campus historically has a very low crime rate. Crime prevention and awareness is the key to maintaining personal safety and security in any environment
For all emergencies or to report criminal activity, follow these steps for the fastest response:
- From a campus phone: Dial 9-911.
- From a cell phone: Dial 911.
- Backup number: If 911 does not connect on your mobile device, call 803-283-3313 to reach emergency services (police, fire, or EMS) directly.
Important: Do not waste time searching for a campus officer; calling the numbers above ensures the quickest help.
