Meg (she/her) |
Meg is a doctoral student at the University of South Carolina studying Composition and Rhetoric. Her background in English Education and Women’s and Gender Studies informs her critical research on gender-neutral language use, first-year composition textbooks, and rhetorical action and enaction to challenge linguistic violence in the U.S. Her aim is to continue the work of undoing systemic injustice through understanding and navigating complex terrains with rhetorical intentionality. Her work can be seen in Critical Sexuality Studies, Lavender Languages, and Everyday Life (Bloomsbury, 2024) and in Ex ӕquo 49 (2024).

Sam (she/her) |
Sam is a second year PhD student in Composition and Rhetoric and an English instructor at UofSC. She earned her both her BA (2021) and MA (2023) in English from Winthrop University. While at Winthrop, she worked as a tutor in the WC at Winthrop University. Sam enjoys working with students across all disciplines and helping them strengthen their writing skills.

My name is Aj (she/her). I am a first year M.A. student studying English literature. I earned my B.S.Ed. in English secondary education from Kutztown University of Pennsylvania and taught ninth grade English during the process. I am also a co-author of "The purpose of social infrastructure: Designing culturally responsive bridges in secondary classrooms," a conference paper that explores teachers as bridge builders -- social engineers tasked with cultivating links between learners and communities.

My name is Alysha, and I use she/her pronouns. I am from Greenville, South Carolina. I am a first year MFA student in fiction. I recently graduated from Furman University with a BA in English and Theatre. I love writing in all its forms and stages, but my favorite stage is the editing and rewriting process. In addition to prose, I also love and dabble in play writing and screen writing. I am very excited to be here at USC!

My name is Anna (she/her). I am a recent graduate from Randolph-Macon College in Ashland, VA. I have a BA in English and am currently pursuing my MA in English as well. Some of my favorite topics to study include entertainment media, children's literature, and journalism.

Nana Abban (he /him) is a PhD student in Composition and Rhetoric and a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of South Carolina. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Language with a minor in French from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in 2022 and was selected to serve as a Teaching Assistant in the Department of English at KNUST in 2023. He is passionate about research and dedicated to helping students improve their writing skills. His research interests include Rhetorical theory, multimodal studies, multilingual writing experiences, translingual pedagogy, sociolinguistics, technical and professional communication, applied linguistics, bilingual education, and language contact in multilingual contexts.
