Mt. Horeb Lutheran Church in Chapin, SC, seeks to modernize its cemetery records by utilizing a University of South Carolina student intern to geomap the cemetery and develop a maintainable digital database. The project will document the exact locations of all gravesites, including those that are occupied and those that have been designated but remain vacant. The final deliverable will be a geospatial map linked to a digital database, providing an accurate and accessible record for cemetery management.

This is a paid internship at $20/hour for up to 150 hours. The intern will gain rich experiences in ArcGIS Online, Mobile GIS (Survey 123), and relevant database management. The project will be conducted in Summer 2025 (may extend to Fall). Field and technical guidance are available from Mt. Horeb Lutheran Church and USC GIS faculty.

Basic GIS skills (GEOG 263) and good attitude of self-learning are required. If interested, please contact Dr. Susan Wang (cwang@mailbox.sc.edu) or Katie Morgan (katie.morgan5575@gmail.com) at church.
