As chair of the Department of Women’s and Gender Studies, Dr. Spencer studies feminist
rhetoric, mass communication, and how marginalized groups find success in traditional
institutions. A dedicated mentor, he especially enjoys supporting first-generation
students and believes a Women’s and Gender Studies degree prepares graduates to find
meaningful careers and live as engaged members of their communities.
