Biography
Alvin Lee Day, MD, FACP, RhMSUS, CCD, is a rheumatologist at Prisma Health in the
Midlands and a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of South
Carolina Floyd School of Medicine. Dr. Day’s academic interests include general rheumatology,
musculoskeletal ultrasound, osteoporosis and metabolic bone diseases, quality bone
densitometry, and performing arts medicine. He is active in the International Society
for Clinical Densitometry (ISCD) where he serves as a committee chair and on various
committees. He is also a member of the Ultrasound School of North American Rheumatologists
(USSONAR), American Osler Society, and the Performing Arts Medicine Association (PAMA).
Dr. Day received his medical degree from the University of South Carolina Floyd School
of Medicine, completed his residency in internal medicine at Prisma Health–Midlands
and completed a fellowship in rheumatology at UAB Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama.
He has additional certifications in musculoskeletal ultrasound and clinical densitometry.
Dr. Day is a co-author of the Manual of Musculoskeletal Ultrasound: A Self-Study,
Protocol-Based Approach.
