Shared Capstone Courses
Academic success is one of our program's core values, and we work with a range of
departments and faculty to give students opportunities within the classroom to learn
and grow in Capstone Scholars-exclusive sections.
University 101
We have worked with University 101 programs to offer sections just for Capstone Scholars.
These classes are capped at nineteen students per section, offering a close-knit environment
for learning about the Capstone Scholars Program and the university. To learn more,
please visit University 101 Programs. You can find Capstone Scholars sections of University 101 by selecting "Capstone
Scholars" here.
English 101
The English department carefully curates themed sections of English 101 for Capstone
Scholars each fall. Past themes have included Studio Ghibli, campus science fiction,
breaking news, and sports culture in the southeast. You can find Capstone Scholars
sections of English 101 by selecting "Capstone Scholars" here.
English 102
Like our English 101 sections, we also provide unique, themed opportunities through
English 102. We offer these in both the fall and spring semesters. You can find Capstone
Scholars sections of English 102 by selecting "Capstone Scholars" here.
Study Abroad Courses
Each year we provide at least one study abroad opportunity in May, known as a "Maymester"
at USC. These Global Classroom courses can take place all over the world, and they typically fulfill a Carolina Core requirement.
Capstone Scholars Leadership Program
Capstone Scholars Leadership Program (CSLP) is an 8-week course designed with emerging
leaders in mind, typically first and second year students. This course focuses on
