The Carolina Coquettes dance team is an elite and integral visual component of the
Carolina Band, and a prominent organization on the USC campus. Comprised of experienced
dancers from across the United States, the Carolina Coquettes perform with the Carolina
Band at all functions and perform in a variety of styles ranging from jazz and high
kick to pom.
The Carolina Coquettes rehearse daily throughout the fall season and members are selected
through a highly competitive audition process in the spring before each football season.
Members participate in all rehearsals and performances and receive a scholarship for
their participation in the Carolina Band.
2025 Coquettes Auditions
Auditions consist of two rounds.
Round 1 is a video submission due 9 a.m. ET on Saturday, April 5 (see Audition Procedures for more details).
Round 2, by invitation only, is a live, in-person audition taking place on Saturday, April 12 from 12 - 6 p.m. Your audition will also include a virtual interview. Please register
using the sign-up form below.
Any in-person events will be held at the Copenhaver Band Hall, 326 Sumter Street.

Garrison Hilton
Garrison Hilton is the recently appointed Director of the Coquettes Dance Team at
the University of South Carolina. He served as a certified dance educator for 12 years
in Lexington, SC and has taught colorguard for over 20 years. Under his direction,
his groups have gained recognition on a state and national level, including his winter
guard programs attending circuit/state championships, multiple regional finals appearances,
and an appearance in the 2022 world championship finals. His River Bluff Dance Company
earned numerous awards over his career with the school, including three top studio
awards at various competitions.
Hilton has also designed, staged, and choreographed for numerous ensembles across
the southeast. One of his biggest passions is making teams look and feel their best,
allowing them to have the best experience possible as performers.
Hilton earned his bachelors of arts degree and dance education with K-12 certification
from the University of South Carolina, and received his masters of of arts degree
from the University of North Carolina Greensboro. He was also named the Directors
Award winner for the class of 2012 in dance education.
