Background
Diane Cumbie is the Director of Graduate Career Education for both the PMBA and MSBA programs at the University of South Carolina's Darla Moore School Business. Her background encompasses work as a higher education professional for 17+ years with a foundation in orientation, academic advising, career services, and volunteer services, and full-time assignments in student activities and leadership development campus-wide programs.
Prior experiences in on-air radio, marketing, retail management, job placement, and years of volunteer service for the military community reflect extensive experience in all aspects of program development and implementation as well as leader facilitation, coaching and advisement.
Cumbie began her higher education career after earning an honors-level undergraduate degree in communication with emphasis in interpersonal and organizational focus areas, and accepting a nomination into the interview and selection process for the College Student Personnel higher education master’s degree program at Western Illinois University. Her degree programs and experiences have provided knowledge and perspective in the areas of experiential personal development, building interpersonal awareness through personality tests and personal reflection, providing real-world leadership development discussion programs, and introducing the application of leadership theory to inform and define a personal leadership style.
Numerous awards and self-selected and appointed campus volunteer leadership positions reinforce and showcase her dedication to the field of student development and commitment to successful campus programs and volunteer experiences for staff from all areas of a higher education campus community.
Her belief is that career development is a dynamic endeavor that is ever-evolving into a commitment to career-long learning, will yield the best results. She invites students to work with her to gain tools and information that will serve their career journey for years to come.
