South Carolina Law Initiative

The South Carolina Law Initiative is a project of the University of South Carolina School of Law to assist the South Carolina General Assembly by providing informed research and non-partisan guidance from members of the South Carolina Bar on proposed additions, revisions, and updates of South Carolina law, particularly with regard to the adoption or revision of uniform laws.

Organization

The Director of the Initiative is Robert M. Wilcox, Dean Emeritus of the USC Rice School of Law. The Project Manager is Katherine Wells, a former staff attorney for the S.C. Senate Judiciary Committee.

The Initiative has an advisory Council consisting of 20 South Carolina lawyers representing a broad range of perspectives, practice areas, and experiences.  The imprimatur of the Initiative can be placed upon an action or Report only with the approval of the Council.  Council members are appointed by the Director with the advice of the Dean.
